TIGERS

Tigers are one of the oldest mammals on the earth. One of the earliest ones was the saber - tooth tiger, dating back to the Ice Age. It is amazing that tigers have survived all these years.
Tigers are almost extinct. Humans are cutting through the jungle and the plains where the tiger lives. They are very rarely seen, anywhere, and their time is running out. Many organizations are trying to save the tiger, such as the World Wildife Fund, and the National Geographic Society. Tigers are also being hunted to extinction, because they are rare, and worth a lot of money.
Tigers are the biggest of the big cats family. They are only in contest with the lions. A big lion may be bigger than a regular sized tiger. Tigers are solitary hunters, and unlike lions, they enjoy a swim on a hot summer day. As you can see, they are a lot different from lions. I think they are more similar to jaguars than to lions, because jaguars are solitary, they hunt alone, and the colors of their coats are similar to tigers.
All in all, I think tigers are cool animals, and I hate to see them become extinct, just like the saber - toothed tiger. It would be a great loss.
