POLAR BEARS

The Polar Bear lives in the arctic. On the average a Polar Bear is three meters tall and can weigh more than a car (225 kilograms to 410 kilograms.) Even though Polar Bears are big they remain agile animals and can run at around 50 km/h. Polar Bears have an immense white coat to protect them from the extreme cold of the arctic.

Polar Bears are great hunters and they mainly hunt alone for small walruses and seals. They hunt with their heads down and walk in perfect silence. The Polar Bear has a great nose, which helps him hunt down his prey. When they are thirsty they drink the cold ocean water or eat snow. The only enemies that Polar Bears have are humans and killer whales.

At birth Polar Bears are only about as big as a cat, they cannot hear nor see. It's only about a month later that they are able to see and hear, and then another month before they can finally walk. Usually Polar Bears reproduce two babies at a time but they can have up to four at once. By the way it's only the mother who raises the children because the father leaves at birth. On average a Polar Bear lives for 25-30 years.

This subject is important because people seem to think of Polar Bears as ferocious animals, but they are only ferocious if you are mean to them. This subject interests me particularly because Polar Bears are my favourite animals and I don't get to see them so I research them.
