THE MONTREAL CANADIENS
My favourite hockey team in the NHL is the Montreal Canadians. The Montreal Canadians won a total of 24 Stanley cups since November 17 1909. The Montreal Canadians are recently in financial problems because after building the Molson Centre in downtown it cost the team a lot of money, and that means that they can't sign good players, and that's why their not as good as they were before.
Well even though the Canadians spent a lot of money on the Molson centre they still have one of the nicest arena's in the NHL, and the capacity of the arena is 21,450 seats, the most in the NHL. The Montreal Canadian's all time scorer was Guy Lafleur with 518 goals, and 728 assist, along with 1246 points.
The Montreal Canadians won their first Stanley cup in 1916, and following that they went on to win another 23 cups. The Montreal Canadians won their cups in 1918, 1924, 1930, 1931, 1944, 1946, 1953, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1971, 1973, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1986, and in 1993. The Montreal Canadians are playing their first game of the regular season on October 2nd and they are playing the Toronto Maple leafs. The canadiens are struggling, and are in last place. All the loses the canadiens losed this year were all by a goal.
The Montreal Canadians are important to me because they're my favourite hockey team in the NHL. They are also the best hockey team. But the reason I like them is because I live in Montreal so I want to see my hometown win.
