Baseball originated in the 19 century but the first game to be played at a major league level was about 1874. The league startedwith just nine teams and they played in very run down little ballparks, but as baseball evolved through the years new teams were added, at the present moment there are thirty teams playing. Stadiums got bigger and stars like Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and Jackie Robinson, the first black player were born. Without baseball who knows where we'd be.
Baseball has evolved over the years, with new rules bigger stadiums a bigger audience and much bigger contracts. Unbelievable contracts of fifty thousand dollars and up. Although the minimum for a player's salary is only six million dollars I can guarantee you that players are getting much more than that. The way baseball is going it won't be long before baseball players are the richest men in the world.
Baseball players in my eyes have become the greediest people in the world. All the other sports athletes whether it's hockey, football or rugby, none of them can even come close to the amount of money a baseball player makes and I mean half the guys out they aren't doing a damn thing for the comunity and they sure aren't any Wayne Gretzkys.
Although their not the most bashful people baseball players put on a good show. Especially now a days, a few years ago I was losing interest in baseball. The Expos sucked and their were no other teams worth cheering for until... Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa began their bid to become the number one home run hitters ever known. Mark and Sammy eclipsedthe mark made by Roger Maris a number of years ago. Yet they haven't given up yet. Both are still striding to hit even more then the previous year. I'm pretty sure Sammy will do it but Mark has a much larger feat ahead of him, he must get to seventy home runs with only a few games remaining. Although he probably won't beat his record I dought anyone will for a long time.
