RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS

Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport with five apparatus. The athletes in this sport must display, confidence, discipline, and must have an amazing amount of flexibility and coordination. In this following page, you will become acquainted with the history of rhythmic gymnastics as well as the apparatus and standards of this sport.

At first, rhythmic gymnastics was not recognized as a sport. The first Worlds were held in Budapest Hungary in 1963. Twenty-eight Hungarian athletes performed in this competition demonstrating numerous skills they had acquired. In 1973, the United States sent a competitor to this competition. In 1984, the all around event was welcomed into the Olympic games, and the group event followed in 1996.

There are five apparatus used in this sport. The first, is the ribbon. Ths apparatus is held by the stick and twirled in a circular pattern. It can be thrown as well. The second apparatus is the ball. This must be held in the palm of the hand and points are extracted if it is gripped with the fingers. The ball is thrust in the air at the samed time as the athlete performs skills of flexibility and strength. The third apparatus is the rope. It must be thrown, twirled, and dngled. The fourth apparatus is the hoop. This looks exactly like a hoola-hoop, though it is thinner and heavier. The athlete is capable of throwing the hoop up while performing a split jump or various other skills. The last and most dangerous apparatus is the set of clubs. The athlete uses two at time. These resemble bowling pins and are extremely heavy. You must calculated the exact distance of the throw.

Many girls have demonstrated the kind of discipline, in this sport, that most people don't even acquire in a lifetime. Girls of all ages can enjoy this sport competitively or recreationally, while learning focus and precision. It is important to enjoy challenge and a degree of pain in the aspect of flexibility. To get the most of this sport, you must truly love performance and strain, and must have the ability to reprogram your mind to teach you that nothing is impossible.
